It is this type of action, that makes me wonder about the committment of both VIHA and Beacon Community Services, on whether or not they give a rat’s ass about their Patients.
Regular Home Support Workers get sick, need time off, and that is normal, but when you fail to inform the people relying on their appearances, that a new one is showing up, you add to the stress, to both the Patient & the Primary Caregiver.
According to Beacon, I am a ‘hoverer‘ and it supposedly ‘intimates‘ their staff. Well, as I told them, and will continue to tell them: TOUGH.
I have no clue as to how qualified these new workers are, these substitutes are. I have seen, from past examples, that the majority are ill trained, or simply don’t care enough to provide qualified care. We have had way too many ‘unsuitable‘ workers, for me to have any trust in strangers.
This is one more reason, why it is important for Beacon Community Services to be on top of their staff changes. In the past, they have phoned (not often) to inform me a worker was sick, or something. Course, it turned out to be a LIE, which also adds to why there is NO TRUST FOR BEACON COMMUNITY SERVICES.
It is hard enough to cope, with a 92 year old. To have to sit by, and listen intently or watch during the worker’s time here, is not helping in giving me a break. It is the ONLY TIME during the entire 24 hour day, that I get a break. A chance for ME to gather, to collect myself, and not have to worry, UNTIL BEACON WORKERS I HAVE NEVER SEEN SHOW UP.
You see, if we, the PRIMARY CAREGIVERS, are drained, are emotionally exhausted, our own abilities suffer. Our own ability to cope and deal with rising situations, becomes weakened, which puts our loved ones at risk. The whole concept of IN HOME SUPPORT is just that, TO PROVIDE SUPPORT.
Simple matters, like a stranger showing up in place of a regular, adds to the STRESS. In my book, that isn’t SUPPORT.
