The Old Ticker

January 30, 2010 at 9:01 am

Thankfully keeps on ticking.

However the changes in her blood pressure readings can be scary. Yet according to the Nurse who visited yesterday, the readings we’ve been getting are okayish.  Not super but there are flashes of those, which is good news.  Means the pills are working.

It does come down to tracking this stuff, and I’ve found that when I take her blood pressure, does make a difference. It is odd to see how it works, how her mood or even what she had to eat, can impact her readings.

I am soo glad I bought Excel, as it shows me at a glance, how things are. Fortunately, they are stable, and that is good news. Doesn’t make it easy at times, seeing what I perceive to be high numbers, but least its not going through the roof, like it used.

A solution may be to do readings at different times, but we’ll see.

Research Begins, again

The Internet is wondeful, especially at all the information that is out there, waiting for someone to pluck it out, and make use of it.  Problem is, you have to find it first, don’t you?

Take this whole osteoporosis issue that I got hit with yesterday.  Now, going to the official Canadian Site for it, there are some interesting articles about the illness/disease, and ways to fight it.   HOWEVER, it is basically incomplete in many of the key elements.

AND THAT SEEMS TYPICAL THESE DAYS.

I mean, there are many diseases/illnesses that can be fought, with a good diet. I mean take Diabetes as an example, and it appears that Osteoporosis is another one. Yet, while there are some helpful notes on what foods to be eating, it is rather slender in content.

Granted there are a lot of foods out there, but you would think that sites that are, more or less, official resource sites, would have a lot more information on the types of foods, with specifics. Okay, so broccoli is one to help add Vitament D or Calcium. What about Cauliflower? Carrots? Tomatoes? and so forth?

Just where does one go, to find all the food groups, with their associated levels of benefit for such diseases? Even the Diabetic sites are sorely lacking in this, and you know, if you eat fresh, THERE ARE NO LABELS ON THE STUFF.

SO HOW DO WE KNOW WHAT TO EAT? WHAT WORKS, WHAT DOESN’T?
