However they aren't, and many can't even communicate in English, so we put our Seniors at huge risk. It prevents those who care, from adapting situations, because they are uncertain if any qualified help will be coming later, or if the person scheduled to show up, will be who does show up. Uncertainty creates stress, creates a risk to the safety of the Patient. That is a fact, no matter how Beacon Community Services and VIHA want to spin it.

When you tell someone, that the person is shaky, to keep the standing to a minimum and insure you are supporting her, it doesn't mean you expect her to get up on her own. It doesn't mean she becomes a jumping jack, or that you remove any support from her grasp. Yet Lily seems to think that is okay. Heck she even thought that Mom's old fashioned in home walker was for Mom to sit on, while getting a sponge bath. And this is the qualified staff Beacon Community Services sends into our homes, with VIHA's blessings.

Do they even care, or do they even think about it? Somehow I doubt our elected officials know how tough life can be, when you are old. How little things like yeast infections can alter your quality of life, all because they have decided to not fund the drugs needed to combat it. After all, it is a luxury, right Christie Clark?

Routines are needed to insure the health of the patient, but it wears down the primary caregiver. It is depressing, when you never get a real break. Too bad one can't trust home support to provide that break, but then, this is caregiving in real life, isnt it?

Social Security needs strengthening, not dismantling as Mr. Harper wants to do. We need a Government who will let Seniors live with dignity, not in poverty, in disgrace. It is our obligation, our responsibilities to care for them, but we need help at times. Everyone does, no matter their political stripe or wealth.
