I suppose having higher goals, in wanting to help others, who suffer the same poor support and government help, is just, well a non issue. It is now about the money, about advertising dollars, campaign contributions, 20 second sound bites, rather than about public service, about fiscal responsibility, or about caring. Seems that business has won another round, again.

Is it because of wages, or cost of equipment? Or is it a system that is bloated with largress? Then could it perhaps simply be, that we have forgotten what health care is really about, which is to provide health care to those in need? Are we looking at health care to be a cash cow? Why do we expect health care to actually be in the black? The issue rests on how you perceive it. We all need it, but some thing that if they have the money, they should be entitled to more than what the average joe gets, but it is the average joe, who perhaps needs it the most. Yet they can't afford it, so do we compromise our values, and let them swing, or do we step up and make Health Care something for everyone to benefit from, irrespective of whether it makes money?

It no longer seems to be about looking after sick people, but about being a source of making big bucks, for doing as little as possible. Oh, sure you need a good education, skills, but what about a personal committment to the job? What about simple, caring? Yes, many do but the system seems geared to make that nearly impossible to accomplish. As well, the rancor over pay seems to always take precedence over the needs of the patient. It has become a cash cow for many, and as a result, we suffer. It is like, having pride in your job, is now something to avoid, to shy away from. Government makes it easy to do, unions make it easy, and I think we do too. After all, we elect these people, and we do so without knowing what they will do for us, just that they aren't as bad as the other guy. Health Care needs to be something to take pride in, not something to pay off political cronies with.

Especially when it comes to the care given by health professionals, and a system that is over burdened, and under staffed, or just simply mis managed. Health Care is not a right, but it sure seems to come close to that. What it has become, though, is a cash cow for unions & hot topic issue for politicians. It becomes a political football, and yet the human element, the patients, gets lost in the rhetoric.
