It adds to Mom's nervousness, her stress, that only shortens what little time she has left. It is a deliberate attempt by Beacon Community Services, to deny a 94 year old a decent quality of life, for her remaining time. If it wasn't deliberate, they'd have picked up a phone, and called, as it says to do in our file. Maybe they should start hiring people who can read, or who at least understand how to use a phone.

IF the Government and Beacon Community Services have their way, it won't be for much longer. Instead of providing quality home care, they border on actual Abuse. They knowingly send in untrained workers, alter schedules, in order to keep the Senior from enjoying their remaining days on earth. They don't have to worry, they can afford private health care, or so they think. Perhaps it is time to hire a good lawyer, and find a way to stop this uncaring, this hateful abusive practise, that puts our loved ones, in the hands of greedy people. Perhaps it is time to stop thinking only of how much money one can make, but about how we treat people who have given their lives building this country.

The lack of understanding, of compassion, just isn't my idea of home support, or of caring. You don't rush an old person, no matter what. You pay attention to their needs, not yours. You show that you care about your job, by actually reading the care plan, and in asking the primary caregiver the necessary questions. Then you follow them, you don't ignore them.

He can't reply to emails, but like Carol James, he knows how to yell, scream, and rant. While the rise in fees for rest home care seems high, and more than likely is, he hasn't done anything to make people care to fight against it. The NDP has failed its supporters, just as the Campbell Government is failing the people of the province, and now raping the wallets of the Provinces Seniors. Problem is simple, people just don't care anymore.
