Consider how many patients Beacon Community Services administers to, and multiply that amount by them. Yet when did VIHA bother to send in someone to make sure the services supplied, are what is being paid for? So much for being Conservative, don't you think? Sort of more like spendthrift is you ask me.

It is about drawing a line, between special interests, and caring for all people. It is about having one rule of law, not two. It is about compassion for those less fortunate, not about the bottom line for some nameless corporation.

I suppose having higher goals, in wanting to help others, who suffer the same poor support and government help, is just, well a non issue. It is now about the money, about advertising dollars, campaign contributions, 20 second sound bites, rather than about public service, about fiscal responsibility, or about caring. Seems that business has won another round, again.

But we go one step further, when it comes to our elderly. We make them endure endless suffering, until finally they pass away. Not from the ravages of illness, the horror of diseases, but from neglect, from sending in people who are only concerned with their income, their pay. We fail to protect our most vulnerable, because it simply isn't profitable. That is what we call our Civilized Society.
