It would be nice if those decisions could simple be based on the proposed success or failure of them, but it isn't that way in real life. The cost of such treatment, now becomes the major deciding factor, and I don't know, but that just seems wrong. It is hard enough to face one's mortality, but to realize that how much money you have to spend on it, is the key factor in how long you can live, just seems wrong.
