They cannot rely on Patients to complain, because they are scared of losing that necessary home care. It is essential that any private agency tasked with home support, maintain a free and open line of communication with its patients, and workers. They cannot be arbitrary, or dictatorial in how they take negative feedback. Nor should patients be made to feel they will be penalized for speaking out. Nor should workers. Communications must be maintained, but without fear. Yellow Books are fine, but what is really needed is consistent communication between workers, patients, and Management. VIHA should be overseeing the operation, not waiting for the complaints to roll in.

Personnel are improperly trained, for the most part. A total lack of common sense exists in most workers, who are provided with out dated information on their duties. Yet VIHA refuses to keep any check and balance over this company, that receives millions in taxpayer money to perform its duties. What is worse, is that the care being provided, borders on criminal abuse of the patients in their care. This is negligence, at best.

They are in a hurry to move on, because all they get is 10 minutes traveling time, and 50 minutes to do their assigned tasks. Thing is, some of those 50 minute jobs can be done in 30 minutes, without rushing. So are they simply padding the time, or is it because often they aren't given time for a break, that is mandated by Employment Standards. Rushing is how accidents happen.

When you tell someone, that the person is shaky, to keep the standing to a minimum and insure you are supporting her, it doesn't mean you expect her to get up on her own. It doesn't mean she becomes a jumping jack, or that you remove any support from her grasp. Yet Lily seems to think that is okay. Heck she even thought that Mom's old fashioned in home walker was for Mom to sit on, while getting a sponge bath. And this is the qualified staff Beacon Community Services sends into our homes, with VIHA's blessings.

The trouble is, they are few in number and spread out very thin. Most have no clue on how to deal with new situations, or issues that throw them off their routine least work routine. God forbid that they actually have to think, because that just isn't in their job description. VIHA simply isn't interested, because well, gee, it doesn't get their political masters votes. So 94 year old women get Edna's, and worse. It is a form of assisted murder really, what VIHA and its co-conspirator Beacon Community Services is doing to those Seniors who need help.
